African Press International and the Michelle Obama Controversy

there are reporst that Michelle Obama placed a surprise and what some call “shocking” call to the African Press International, a medium-size news service in Africa. She wanted to complain about its references to negative stories about her husband. She reportedly accused the African Press International of “colluding with American bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband.”

Mrs. Obama felt that an African news agency should be more supportive of an African-American running for the highest office in the U.S.

However, there are reports that Michelle Obama did not call the agency, and that it was an imposter, and that the African Press International was taken in by a hoax. If so, this reflects badly on their journalistic standards.

  1. Have you read the article? It is so obviously bogus, I can’t believe anyone would actually buy the idea that the Obama campaign, which is probably the most disciplined campaign ever seen, would go along with Mrs. Obama calling some unknown organization to make such accusations. Mrs. Obama barely has time for her husband, her children, and her husband’s campaign. And who’s ever heard of the API before now?
